LOCATION GUIDE

Your guide in designing family photos that you will cherish forever!

Before I dive deep in sharing all my favorite Front Range locations with you, I have a few things I want you to keep in mind:

  • If you have a specific location in mind that is not on here--that is totally fine! These are just suggestions! I love using new spots as well, especially if they have sentimental value.
  • These locations are merely the background of your images, your family will be the real focus!
  • This location guide is not just about choosing what looks prettiest, but also to help inform you how accessible and "easy" a location is. There is absolutely no shame in choosing a location that is your favorite simply because it is close to home!

Black Rock Canyon Trailhead

Located in Yucca Valley this incredible view location is beautiful at all times of year. Expect rolling terrain, Joshua trees, cactus, and some wildflowers in the spring.

  • This location is best at Sunrise or about 2 hours prior to sunset.
  • Minimal hiking, roughly 1/8 mile walk from parking lot. May be a challenge for those who are not fully independent walkers. Restrooms at campsites.

Hidden Acres

This secret location offers very pretty long views, and beautiful light at sunrise and sunset. Offering open desert, boulders and Joshua trees.

  • This location is best at sunrise and two hours before sunset.
  • About a half mile drive on a dirt road. Some spots are near parking, the best require a little hiking.

Morongo Preserve

Located in Morongo Valley, closer to the low desert, this spot offers beautiful locations including meadows, trees, and a family park! Deer can often be spotted in the early morning and late afternoon! Ideal for families who have young children that may not be as happy after a long car ride or later in the day. Many mature trees make this a lush oasis in the summer, full of grand color in early Winter, and beautiful beige in the later winter months.

  • This location is great from sunrise to sunset! With many trees providing shade, we can shoot here almost anytime of day.
  • Plenty of parking and many locations are along the boardwalk or paved pathways. This location has easy access and beautiful trees that show fall colors in late December.

Old Town Yucca Valley

Located along 29 Palms Hwy. This spot is great all year and offers a unique boho vibe for a backdrop with quaint shops, murals and a coffeehouse.

  • This Location is best in the afternoon and early evening.
  • Parking lots and on street parking are abundant. Sidewalks are perfect for strollers or wheelchairs.

Ancient Springs

Beautiful long views, mountains and the Rhythm of Life are all wonderful highlights of this Natural art location. Spot one offers stunning sunset vistas while spot two highlights The Rhythm of Life.

  • This Location is best in the two hours before sunset. Wildflowers usually appear in April.
  • Easy parking but some walking over uneven desert ground.

Joshua Tree National Park

Our number one attraction, this spot has views and scenery for miles! With boulders, the Cholla Gardens and many other landmarks the park has a lot to offer! It can become rather crowded during the busy season and entry to the park and parking can become difficult, especially around weekends and holidays. There is a fee to enter The Park.

*Due to the prevalence of tourists, I avoid this spot during busy times.

  • This location is very bright and sunny and requires a session time roughly one hour before sunset or at sunrise.
  • Easy access with paved roads and parking lots. Wheelchair and stroller friendly locations with views and scenery. There is an entrance fee to enter our National Park.

The Happy Heart Ranch

This location offers a wide range of options with beautiful desert and mountain views or inside my studio. There are several features on the property including old trucks, a campground with a firepit and bar, and horses.

  • This location has wide open sun and is best at sunrise or the two hours before sunset.
  • short drive down a dirt road, there are no paved areas or walkways. There is plenty of parking.

Location Additions

We have several old trucks and an old wagon that can be incorporated into personalized sessions at The Happy Heart Ranch for an additional fee. *Additional vehicles are scattered around the property and can be used "as-is" for no additional charge.

I want to end with the same note I began with, choosing a location is fun, but it does not dictate how great your images will turn out. This guide was simply made to help educate you in choosing the location that works best for you!

Thank you so much for your support of my small business! I cannot wait to photograph your family!

Thank you,
